P3N Cookie Sales
How Did 22 Young Children in P3N Help Build a School? One Cookie at a Time!
On Monday, 22 January 2010, 22 P3N children hit the streets in their neighbourhoods to sell cookies! Three weeks later, on 15 February, these same 22 children gave 1306.63 € to the Heart for Haiti fundraising project. What a huge accomplishment and what a success!
The children proudly told Astrid Peijs, Mari van der Fluit and Sandra Renelique their sales experiences. They were surprised themselves how easily their sales were made. Almost everybody had a positive story to tell. Most customers didn’t even want the cookies, but were glad to give a contribution for the children in Haiti.
Heart for Haiti is so proud of these children and is thankful to the cookie factory, “De Aviateur” for donating so many cookies. The cookies that went unsold by the P3Ners were sold at the school wide bake sale on Thursday, 11 February. By the end of the day, all the cookies were gone; but the memories and experiences that P3N had in helping to raise funds to help rebuild a school in Haiti will remain in the hearts and minds of the P3Ners for a long time to come.

Heart for Haiti Cash Donations
On January 12, 2010 a devastating earthquake hit Haiti. By January 14, the women from the International Cooking Groups, together with the Haitian families at our school were busy making plans to raise funds to rebuild at least one school. Heart for Haiti was founded.
On January 20, Quirien van Trigt published an interview with Sandra Renelique in the Bergen and Langedijker Nieuwsblad and the cash donations started to flow in.
Between 21 -28 January, 39 families from Bergen, Schoorl, Egmond aan Zee, Egmond aan den Hoef, Alkmaar, Noord-Scharwoude, Slootdorp, St. Pancras, Nijmegen and even Beek-Ubbergen, donated 2081,00 € for our cause.
As of 1 February, we have raised 3946, 80 €. This includes a 750 € donation from the primary school, Sint Barbara in Tuitjenhorn and 650 € from the ESB student organisation Act2Aid.
Sint Barbara Primary School in Tuitjenhorn has Heart for Haiti
The Primary School, Sint Barbara in Tuitjenhorn (the village just beyond Warmenhuizen) read about our Haiti project: Heart for Haiti in the Langedijker regional newspaper and graciously decided to give a portion of their donation (originally pegged as going 100% to the national 555 giro) to support our fundraising efforts. This is tremendous news for us and for the children in Haiti. Thank you to the families and staff at the primary school Sint Barbara in Tuitjenhorn.
Please read the email Harry Weijers, the director of the primary school Sint Barbara, wrote to us on the Dutch portion of our blog.
